Halar® ECTFE Compression Molding

Halar® ECTFE Compression Molding

Halar® ECTFE from Solvay Specialty Polymers

Halar® ECTFE Properties

  1. Excellent resistance to strong acids (sulfuric, nitric, hydrochloric and hydrofluoric) over a wide temperature range

  2. Resists strong bases such as sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide that would stress crack PVDF

  3. Easily handles powder bleaching agents such as sodium hypochlorite

  4. Resists strong polar solvents such as NMP and DMF

  5. Not dissolved by any known solvent to 150ºC (300ºF)

  6. Best radiation resistance of all fluoropolymers

  7. Ozone-resistant

  8. Excellent barrier properties, 10 to 100 times better than PTFE or FEP to oxygen, carbon dioxide, chlorine gas or hydrochloric acid

  9. Excellent hydrogen permeation resistance

  10. Low permeability to water vapor and other gases

  11. Good electrical properties

  12. Extremely low levels of metallic and organic extractables

  13. Very low fluoride leach-out

  14. Additional dynamic rinse data validate Halar® ECTFE as suitable for high purity systems in the semiconductor, biotech, and pharmaceutical   industries

  15. UL-94 V-0 vertical burn at 0.18 mm

  16. Low flame spread, low smoke generation

  17. Excellent mechanical properties over a temperature range from cryogenic to 150°C (300°F)

  18. Excellent abrasion resistance

  19. Nylon-like durability provides excellent impact resistance at ambient and subambient temperatures

  20. Excellent weathering resistance

  21. Good tensile, flexural and wear-related properties

  22. Extraordinary surface smoothness as measured by SEM and AFM

  23. Significantly reduced bio-organic films and bacterial colonies compared to electropolished stainless steel and PVDF.
